Troubleshooting the Card Reader (Part 1): Setting Up the Card Reader

If the Shopify POS App is not connecting to the card reader, it is possible the card reader has become unpaired from the tablet, and needs to be set up again.

  1. Make sure you are using the matched set of tablet / card reader (A or T).
  2. Make sure the card reader is on (green light)
  3. In the Shopify App, tap the CONNECTIVITY ICON in the bottom-right corner (2nd from bottom)
  4. Tap "Set up new device"
  5. Tap "Card Reader"
  6. Tap "Chip & Swipe"
  7. When it finds the card reader, tap "Connect", then wait
  8. When it is connected, tap "Done"
  9. Skip remaining items
  10. Tap "X" to return home and begin taking orders
